Reasons to Collect Tesserae Mini Collages

This collection of tiny collages came from one of my most successful gallery shows in May of 2024, Tesserae. Tiny art with a big idea behind it. Each Tesserae mini collage is a complete piece on its own and a sly invitation to question what art really is, who it's for, and why we treasure the things we collect. Here's why these little works belong on your wall (and in your trade stack).

Each One Is a Whole Work of Art

A small piece can carry just as much weight as a big one.

In ancient mosaics, a single tessera was one tiny tile—easy to overlook, impossible to leave out. Every Tesserae collage carries that same spirit: modest in size, complete in itself. Hang one alone and it holds the room. No assembly required, no "set" needed to make it feel finished.

That's the quiet rebellion here. We're so used to thinking value scales with size, but a single tile proves otherwise.

They Ask a Cheeky Question

Provocative art that fits in your hand.

Does art become more accessible when we trade it like trading cards? Each piece pokes at the line between fine art and commodity, then hands the question to you. Is this clever democratization, or does democratization of art make it less than “art?”

There's no wrong answer and that's the point. These collages are designed to spark a debate, not settle it.

Priced for Real People

Great art shouldn't require a gallery budget.

Some pieces are playful, some are pointed, and I hope a few will make you smile or maybe even chuckle but none of them ask you to remortgage anything. The collection ranges from the whimsical to the substantive, and all are wallet-friendly.

This is art for people who love art, not for people chasing a status symbol. The price tag opens the door instead of guarding it.
